Meet Dr. Joe Gibson

As an orthodontist, I have the unique opportunity to make a positive, lasting difference in the lives of my patients and their families. Creating beautiful smiles, and seeing my patients carry them confidently into the world, is extremely rewarding. My constant desire is to improve the function and dental health of my patients, while encouraging them in their lives.

Since 1987, Dr. Gibson has taken time to learn what each patient desires and thoroughly assess their clinical concerns, before creating the person’s unique treatment plan. Prior to starting care, he and his team make sure patients understand what is needed and what will happen, ensuring they are informed and engaged throughout treatment.

Each member of Dr. Gibson’s team is a registered assistant with years of experience in treating patients with the highest level of clinical care and compassion. His staff members are kind, gentle, personable, and strive to make sure each patient has a wonderful experience.

Education

Dr. Gibson is a graduate of Morristown Hamblen East High School and Carson-Newman University. He then attended the University of Tennessee, in Memphis, where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery, a Master of Science, and completed his orthodontic training.

Each year Dr. Gibson seeks out a range of continuing education, attending meetings, lectures, and seminars locally, regionally, and nationally. He is an active member of Damon™ and Invisalign® study groups, too.

Additionally, Dr. Gibson teaches in the orthodontic program at the University of Tennessee at Memphis and is a former adjunct professor for the Vanderbilt University Orthodontic Program.

In the Community

Dr. Gibson feels it is essential to give back and support the community that has given him so much. He is the Chairman of the Hamblen County School Board, an active Rotary Club member, and Deacon and Choir member of the First Baptist Church of Morristown. He also supports local Boy Scouts and First Love on Main, the local health clinic.

Beyond the Practice

Dr. Gibson is a lifelong Morristown resident and is proud to have raised his family here. Kathy, his wife, is a family counselor.

The couple has three children: Chip, Ben and Katelyn.  Chip is their oldest and lives with his wife Angela in Knoxville. Chip and Angela have a son, Jake, and a daughter, JoAnna. Their son Ben, and his wife, Rebecca and daughter, Scarlett, also live in Knoxville.Their daughter Katelyn and her husband, Geoff live in Johnson City.  

Dr. Gibson  is an avid pilot.  He has had his pilot's license since college. He enjoys golf, working with the Hamblen County School Board and First Baptist Church of Morristown, and spending time with his family.
